Many of you have been asking for websites to download pc games for free. Since there are a few gamers in the audience, I will show you the top 10 best sites to download pc games free and legally. You may not find the newest games on these sites but there are some great games to be found for Windows, Mac, and Linux computers. At the time this article was written, all these sites are well trusted and considered for safety use. Always scan any installer with your favorite security software before installing. So be cautious and use these websites at your own risk. For each of the websites, I will help you navigate to the free stuff.

#1: allgamesatoz.com

First up is allgamesatoz.com which is one of the nicer looking sites in this blog post. It has games available for Pc, Mac, and Linux and you can select between the 3 at the top of the page. On their homepage, paid games are mixed in with the free games. To only see the free games, select “Free Games A to Z” at the top – the amount of free games is limited. On any game page, they will show you which operating system that game is available for along with their description, download link and average user rating.

This website in addition to offering free games offers Gaming News, Trainers, Game Fixes, Cheats, Mods and other stuff. To access the free games, select “Freeware” at the top. Megagames.com has a huge variety with too many games to count so you are likely to find a game to play on this site.

Next up is origin.com which is run by EA games. This is a service that is similar to Steam. Origin also features a desktop app. Where you want to go on the site is the “ON THE HOUSE” section. In the left column, hover your mouse over Free Games, then select “ON THE HOUSE” - here you will find full games and expansions that are completely free! Right now the free game is “SteamWorld Dig”. In the past, they’ve offered Dragon Age Origin, Mass Effect 2, Need for Speed Most Wanted along with a couple of those and other games. Bestoldgames.net is a website that is specialized revitalizing old DOS games. They have hundreds of original games that were popular back in the 80’s and 90’s. Most of the games are in their original format, so may not run with newer operating systems. So you will need to install a DOS emulator. They provide a good one call DOSBox.

Last but not the least is gog.com which is a competitor to Steam. All games on gog.com don’t have DRM which means your games are not linked to your gog.com account. So if they ever shutdown unlike like Steam, you will still have your downloaded games. Finding the free games on gog.com is not easy – hover your cursor over “STORE”, move your cursor down to “Browse all games”, you can select one of the 3 platforms listed to the right or just click on “Browse all games”, to the far right, click on the tab for “PRICE” and then select free. At last count, they had about 48 free games for download. In addition to Windows, many of the games are also available on Linux and Mac.
